For short-to-mid distances in China, the train looks fast on paper. In reality it's a whole adventure that starts before you even board: security queues, a sprint for the gate, the passenger next to you on speakerphone, seats too tight to stretch your legs... sometimes someone will even argue that your own seat is theirs.
None of that with a private car. Your driver picks you up at the door, handles the bags, sets the AC how you like it. No queues, no crowds, no arguing over a seat — just you, the ride, and your destination.
